The fabrics and garments in the Jennye Rebecca line are produced in Rebecca’s home studio in Western North Carolina. She works on a 60 inch wide 16 harness AVL loom which allows a wide variety of weave patterns and structures.
The first step in creating a handwoven wearable, and the artist’s favorite step, is selecting the colors and yarns to be used. The loom is dressed and the weaving begins. After the fabric is woven, it is removed from the loom, washed and cut. Rebecca then assembles the pieces and sews them into garments. Finally, embellishments like vintage buttons are added. Although garment styles are repeated, each piece is one of a kind.
